Furlough Goals (06/15/2007)

We have five definite objectives that we are pursuing during this year of home assignment.  We ask that you pray with us about meeting these goals before we return to the field in June 2008.

  1. Reporting.  We want to report to every one of our supporting churches.  We have about 25 supporting churches stretching from Georgia to the upper peninsula of Michigan as well as in Arizona and California.  (see our Furlough Ministry Calendar)

  2. Retooling.  We want to experience spiritual refreshment and equipping in preparation for our return to ministry in Taiwan.  In particular, Matt will be taking at least three courses toward an advanced degree during the course of this year (Lord willing).  Pray that in spite of our busy schedule God would give us adequate opportunity to refresh and renew our walk and relationship with Him.

  3. Recruiting- Missionary Workers.  We aim to recruit new missionaries for the field of Taiwan. The needs of Taiwan are often overshadowed by the population of its huge neighbor, China. But we hope to show the unique opportunities for ministry available in Taiwan as well as the potential for it to become a source of missionary outreach into Mainland China.

  4. Recruiting- Financial & Prayer Supporters.  Our support has eroded over the years so that we are now only receiving 80% of our estimated support need.  This 20% lack is equivalent to about $1,200. We need to contact churches that are not currently supporting us and arrange meetings in and effort to increase the number of our supporting churches. (view our Current Support Level)

  5. Returning.  We are aiming to return to Taiwan in June, 2008 to resume ministry at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Kaohsiung.  We will be working closely with the Pat Delaney family who are currently helping watch the work and studying Mandarin Chinese.
